Unsightly pimples are a
major concern among teenagers. Even adults find it difficult to
accept them. If left untouched, the pimples take two to three days
to subside before disappearing fully. However, most teenagers are
not willing to wait this long. They want to pop the pimple. This is
not a difficult task provided you know how to pop a pimple.
You first need to wash your face with warm water several times. This
helps in removing any dust or sweat that might be present on the
face. You should then use a clean and soft towel to pat your face
dry. You should never make the mistake of rubbing your face while
you have pimples. It irritates the skin and there are chances that
you might break the pimples releasing the fluids, which may cause
fresh breakouts.
Next, dip a fresh cotton pad or gauze into an astringent that you
are not allergic to. Wipe the area around the pimple to completely
remove any traces of dirt or microorganisms. Wash your hands
especially your fingernails several times with an antiseptic
solution. You can also consider using sterile gloves.
Flame heat the tip of the needle to sterilize it and prick the
pimple with it. Hold two sterile gauze materials close to the pimple
and collect the residue. Apply gentle pressure from both the sides
till you see blood or clear fluid coming out. You can apply an
ointment over it and allow it to heal naturally. Do not disturb it
any further.
Never use your fingernails as a tool to pinch off a pimple. This is
because it is totally unhygienic and the bacteria present in the
fingernails can lodge themselves in the pimple. And in most cases it
leads to secondary infection that worsens the acne breakout.
There are a few things that should be avoided while popping a zit.
Never pop a zit that is not fully mature. By pinching or pressing
the pimple there are chances that the bacteria will be pushed deeper
into the skin pore. This will cause more harm than good.
If the zit is very hard then do not use your nails to extract it.
You are likely to remove it superficially only. But at the same time
you will damage the tissue around the inflamed region and make it
vulnerable to secondary infection. Chances of scarring also become
more.
For an immature zit you should take clean and sterile gauze and soak
it in warm salt water. Place it over the pimple for at least 5
minutes. Do this several times during the day. The salt helps to dry
the fluid content of the pimple and draws it out. The warm water
helps the pimple becoming soft. Just before drawing the pimple out
wash your face with warm water. It opens up the pore and makes it
easier to pop it.
